As I’ve mentioned during the months of August and September, we will be having a special schedule. Since I am uncertain about how much time we have together before I am called back to service and how long I might be away, this special schedule aims to create an opportunity for us to learn a considerable amount of Biblical Hebrew and Hebrew Bible in a relatively short period.

Here are the subjects that will be discussed during this period:

The Primeval History of the Book of Genesis

We will explore the early chapters of the Book of Genesis (chapters 1-11), which include the creation narratives, the story of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, the genealogies, the story of Noah and the Flood, and the Tower of Babel.

The Book of Jonah 

A close reading of the Book of Jonah, exploring its themes, literary style, and theological messages. This short prophetic book offers rich lessons about repentance, compassion, and divine mercy.

Selected Readings from the Prophets

We will select significant passages from the Prophets (Nevi’im) to study their historical context, prophetic messages, and relevance to contemporary issues. This might include readings from Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and the Twelve Minor Prophets.

The Book of Judges

An exploration of the Book of Judges, focusing on the cycles of sin and redemption that characterize this period in Israel’s history. We will study key judges like Deborah, Gideon, and Samson. We are now focusing on the anarchy described in the last chapters of the Book of Judges.

Selected Readings from the Psalms

We will dive into the Psalms (Tehillim), studying various genres such as hymns of praise, laments, thanksgiving psalms, and royal psalms, and understanding their literary and theological significance.

The Book of Ruth

A focused study on the Book of Ruth, examining its narrative, themes of loyalty and redemption, and its place within the larger biblical canon and Jewish tradition.

Online Touring of Biblical Sites in the Land of Israel

Utilizing online resources and virtual tours, we will visit significant biblical sites in Israel including Jerusalem, Hebron, and the ancient city of shilo, among others.

Sessions Addressing Subjects Related to the Current Affairs in Israel

These sessions delve into the intricacies of Israel’s current socio-political, economic, and cultural landscapes, providing participants with a nuanced understanding of the issues that shape the nation today. Naturally, in light of the situation we will also address the war and its implications  

Sessions with special guests 

We will have conversation with special guests concerning topics related to biblical study and interpretation, Judaism and different Jewish traditions as well as other topics related to Israel.

Open Class for Student Questions and Focus on Grammar

An open class session dedicated to addressing any questions the students might have, with a special focus on grammatical questions related to Biblical Hebrew. This will be an interactive session to clarify doubts and deepen your understanding.
